MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION

HIGH SCHOOL BAND INFORMATION (uniform guidelines)

For this event to be a success, we need parents to do three things:  

  • Volunteer.
  • Donate desserts.
  • Buy dinner tickets!

We need many people to work during all three shifts for both the kitchen/dining area and the Chinese Auction. 

(And the last shift isn’t as bad as you think — there’s usually less work to do!) 

BUY A DINNER: We do ask that everyone attending purchase a ticket for admission to this event. You can buy a small portion ticket for $5 or a large portion ticket for $7. 

Our menu includes pasta, DiRusso’s meatballs & sausage, salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Take-out dinners are available, too. 

CHINESE AUCTION: Your ticket purchase is also your admission to our fabulous Chinese Auction, which is always filled with a huge array of baskets/prizes for you to win! 

DESSERTS: We are asking each band family to donate a dessert item. We have assigned the desserts as follows: 

  • If your last name begins with A to E — Cakes (single layer iced cakes or Bundt cakes)
  • If your last name begins with F to R — Fruit Pies (no cream pies, please)
  • If your last name begins with S — Brownies (one dozen only)
  • If your last name begins with T to Z — Cookies (one dozen only)

We need all desserts dropped off at the high school between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on the day of the dinner.Please place your dessert items in disposable containers. (For your convenience, you can pull up to the Athletic Office entrance on the west side of the high school, facing the stadium, and someone will be there to take your dessert so you don’t have to park, get out of your car, etc.) 

PLACEMAT ADS: If you know of any companies that would like excellent exposure on our pasta dinner placemats, ask them to consider advertising.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, February 25. On behalf of the Canfield Band Parents and the Band Directors, thank you in advance for your support of this important fundraiser. Proceeds from this event benefit all of the instrumental music programs at the middle school and high school.

On Saturday, February 11, 2012, 57 members of the Canfield High School Band Program participated in 51 events at the annual Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) District 5 Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event. This year’s event was once again held at South Range Local Schools.
The OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudicated Event is an opportunity for high school instrumental and vocal students to perform before an adjudicator and be evaluated on that performance. The students entered in a variety of events from solo performances to large ensembles. Entering in three class categories from “A” or most difficult to “C” or least difficult, each event was evaluated and awarded a rating. The rating system used is “I” for a superior performance, “II” for an outstanding performance, “III” for an acceptable performance, “IV” for a poor performance, and “V” for a very poor performance.
Canfield band students received 32 – I’s, 15 – II’s, and 4 – III’s. Of the 32 overall I’s or Superior ratings, Canfield brought home 61 Superior medals!
